You, too, can leave comments on detergent bin if you are not a Blogger/Google user or if you don’t want to be anonymous. Using the new OpenID protocol, users of LiveJournal, WordPress, Movable Type, AOL, Yahoo! and dozens of other providers can post comments on others’ sites. Cool! Now you can leave comments and provide a link back to your blog.
What is it? OpenID eliminates the need to remember seventeen different usernames and passwords for various sites. Using your own OpenID, you can sign in to participating sites and utilize their features, such as commenting on foreign blog sites.
What is my OpenID? Your OpenID will be a URL (dependant on your provider), likely your blog address. For example, LiveJournal user Medic585 will have an OpenID of medic585.livejournal.com.
How do I use it? Simple. If you were to post a comment on an article on detergent bin, you would simply select the preferred method from the dropdown and type in your OpenID where it says ‘Username.’ You will likely be redirected briefly to confirm that you are who you say you are, then the comment is submitted once identity is confirmed. Simple!
