I’m pleased to announce the relaunch of craigfreeman.net. This marks the site’s third incarnation on this domain, though it previously existed on freemanc.com. I changed domains in 2009 when I started looking for work and needed to “rebrand.”
I’m proud to have incorporated the techniques and skills I’ve picked up over the last year while working with WordPress at Crowd Favorite, including Git, Sass, and general best practices for coding and directory structures. This time I’m using the FavePersonal theme as a starting point, which is powered by Crowd Favorite’s own Carrington Core template engine. The FavePersonal theme has some great built-in features, like a Featured Post selector, a color palette-picker powered by Adobe Kuler, and the ever-awesome Social plugin. I’m most excited about using Social on my site, as it turns the blog into my social hub by broadcasting out to Facebook and Twitter and then reeling back in any related comments. I’m hoping this will help me focus on writing more meaningful content, rather than further contributing to filterless drivel that makes up a large part of Facebook these days.
I’ve decided to separate out my personal blog entries from my professional ones, so this domain will focus on web and software development-related topics. I’ll be moving the ‘everything else’ blogging over to another domain in the near future.
Enjoy!

Nice, man! I’m digging the color scheme, I would have never thought of the shades of purple with that green.

Looks great! Check out the footer on tablet breakpoints, you may want to rebalance the sidebar columns.
Maybe we should think about SASS-ifying the FavePersonal CSS sometime in the future too. And I have some child theme ideas if you are interested in exploring those.

Thanks, gents! Alex, yeah there’s a few things I noticed I need to tweak, like the sidebar on the tablet breakpoint and on the image post format/full-width post.
Sure! I made my theme as a child of Favepersonal so I could upgrade FP easier. I exported the CSS into the child theme also, which is what I Sassified.
