I’ve decided to start chipping away at the prerequisites towards a Master of Software Engineering degree through Penn State. I have handful of classes to take at CU Denver before I apply to the program, which would give me enough time to pay off the rest of my Bachelor’s loans. I’m not looking forward to taking the GREs, but thankfully the Penn State program is 100% online and can be completed in 2 years, so I hope to be on the other side quickly.

Have you looked into this? https://www.edx.org/ You can get a certificate which is a lot cheaper and may carry equivalent weight..
I’ve considered other certificates, but I would still have the same amount of prereqs to do – it’s only a few extras classes to get the degree over the advanced cert.
